![]() ![]() Address Book ¿Similar in appearance to iTunes, Address Book is a convenient tool for organizing all your contacts. I mean, really¿ maybe if it was called iMail, I¿d give it a chance.Okay, no I wouldn't. Honestly, I use Microsoft¿s Entourage mail program so I can¿t really get to excited about Mail. Although the keynote was filled with hiccups, this was the only demonstration Jobs couldn¿t complete in its entirety so I'm not really sure how well the filter works. Once you feel it¿s got a good grip on determining what¿s crap, set the program to Automatic and it¿s bye bye junk mail. Set the filter to Training and the program will progressively learn what is and what is not junk mail. The program now has an enhanced Junk mail filtration system. Mail ¿ Jaguar includes an update to Apple¿s simply named email client, Mail. Graphic designers, like myself, are sure to take full advantage of this feature to make simple animated sequenced Desktop images. Similar to the screensaver ¿Slide Show,¿ you can now assign a folder of images to your Desktop and automatically, on a timed schedule you decide, the Desktop will fade from one image to the next. Another really cool Jaguar feature is the ability to ¿animate¿ your Desktop. Highlight a file and its path appears, allowing easy access and quick delivery. The search results appear within that window. Each Finder window is now equipped with a search field. This feature also works in the Finder¿s list view.No more need to launch Sherlock in order to find files. Drag and hold a file over a folder icon anywhere in the Finder and after a second or so the folder will spring open allowing you to simply drop the file in that folder. After seeing it demonstrated, I realized that it¿s one of the common OS 9 features that I took for granted and had been living without ever since the switch to OS X. Now if you don't necessarily know what that means, don't be too ashamed, neither did I at first ¿ or at least the terminology threw me off.
